Last time I was in Lubbock, the 'dozers were rolling, and the East-West Freeway was busting through town like the latest tornado, leaving wreck and ruin in its wake. A couple years ago, I drove along the freeway corridor, checking out the old buildings and businesses just before they fell. Private note to Lubbock: Hey! Aren't y'all supposed to be Proud Conservatives? Down on Big Government and Pork and Tax-and-Spending and all that? Then how is it there's never been a federal hand-out you've said no thanks to? It's fine by me if you tuck into government largesse just as greedily as some Lib city, but for Chrissake, come clean, already.
